Privacy policy

OriginViz is an independent project run by Ali. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and the choices you have. OriginViz shows no ads and never sells your data.

What we collect

• Analytics (only with your consent where the law requires it). Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages are useful: pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location (country or city), device and browser type. Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, such as clicks, scrolling and page layout, to produce heatmaps and session replays; it is designed to mask text you type into forms. Both use cookies.
• Corrections and suggestions. If you send the corrections form, we store what you write — the page or brand, your message, an optional source link — and your email address only if you choose to give it so we can reply. Submissions are stored in Google Firebase and can be read only by the editor.
• Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
• Your browser’s local storage. The site remembers your cookie choice and, after you send the corrections form, when you last sent it (to prevent spam). This stays on your device.

Cookies and your choices

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked before any analytics cookies are set. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can turn it off at any time. Either way you can change your mind with Cookie settings. Rejecting removes the analytics cookies from this site. No advertising cookies are used.

Who processes the data

• Google (Google Analytics and Firebase)
• Microsoft (Clarity)
• Cloudflare (hosting)

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their own privacy terms.

How long we keep it

Correction submissions are kept while they are useful for maintaining the site and are deleted on request. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in each analytics service, after which it is deleted automatically.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to its use. To make a request, use the contact form and say it is a privacy request, with an email address so we can reply. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change too.
